Richard Brunst for Orem Mayor
Richard is running for Mayor in a seat currently held by Jim Evans who was appointed in October 2011 after the passing of Mayor Washburn. The Primary Election will be held August 13th and the General November 5th.
Mr. Brunst is a long time resident of Orem that has been involved in Orem city for 20 years. He is very concerned the citizens of Orem have not had a voice in Orem's political process and is committed to programs to reach out to citizens and truly listen to the concerns, ideas and solutions that they have to offer.
Richard owns and runs a multi-million dollar business on the western side of Orem, Western Pipe Coating and Engineers, Inc. They coat natural gas and other piping for major pipelines. They also have worked on major projects for the 2000 Salt Lake and 2010 Utah County I-15 projects. He is very familiar with what is takes to make the tough decisions to keep an organization running efficiently and working within budget constraints.
He believes the city should be fiscally responsible with tax dollars. “There are many projects that would be nice but are simply fiscally irresponsible,” said Richard. Richard believes that UTOPIA and its drain on the budget is the biggest issue that Orem faces and has been intensely studying the issues to come up with a plan to deal with this overwhelming problem.
Mr. Brunst is committed to citizen involvement, fiscal responsibility and fixing UTOPIA. He believes his knowledge, preparation and experience can help Orem achieve these goals and he will continue to reach out to the citizens of Orem for their input regarding the issues that face their city. Richard said, "We have a great city and great people. That sounds like a good recipe for success in preserving our city for our children and grandchildren."
Richard has lived in North East Orem for 20 years, is married to the former Tammy Brucks and is the father of 4 children.
